Anne Rearick and Willie Alexander have been making art independently and together throughout their lives. Now a long term artist couple, their styles and approaches differ radically, but they live in an ongoing creative conversation, challenging, inspiring and supporting each other. Twin Lights is their first exhibition together, their first public visual conversation. In it, they share their two ways of seeing the world around us, their two ways of being in it and portraying what they see.

Despite the documentary character of Rearick’s photography, her work is as personal as Alexander’s spontaneous, layered paintings. Like all artists, they are both observers, walking through and digesting the world. There are many different ways to observe, however, and Rearick and Alexander go back to their subjects repeatedly, building relationships with them. The images they show us are as much about themselves as about the world.
